(More customer reviews)Although not a replacement to a traditional fire extinguisher, a fire blanket can be a very useful adjunct to one, especially in the kitchen. Fire blankets work by smothering the fire. They work very well on small fires, and they are particularly useful in two common circumstances:
A small one pan grease fire- here, you don't ruin the food and make a big mess by spraying chemicals over everything on the stove top.
When a person's clothing has caught on fire- again, here the chemicals could cause extra problems in a burn or if they get into the eyes or mouth.
I have used one on both sets of circumstances, and everyone was pleased how they worked out.
You need to know when to use a fire blanket, but if you know that, they are a very useful thing to have in the kitchen or on a camping trip.
